Daniel is a resident of the Detroit suburbs, is Vice President of Clinical Diagnostics at Chondrogene, Inc, in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. From 2002-2005, he was Director of Molecular Diagnostics at The Methodist Hospital in Houston, where he was also on the faculty of Baylor College of Medicine and was Associate Professor of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at Weill Medical College of Cornell University. Previously, Dr. Farkas was Director of Clinical Diagnostics at Clinical Micro Sensors (later Motorola Life Sciences) in Pasadena, California. Dr. Farkas established and was co-director of the Molecular Probe Laboratory at William Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan, from 1991-1998. Prior to that, in 1989, he established the Diagnostic Molecular Pathology Laboratory at Saint Barnabas Medical Center in Livingston, New Jersey.

Dr. Farkas has published extensively on molecular diagnostics, including his latest book, DNA From A to Z. He has lectured widely, both nationally and internationally, on molecular diagnostics. He has also been active in professional societies devoted to molecular pathology, including the American Association for Clinical Chemistry, the College of American Pathologists, and the Association for Molecular Pathology, of which he was President in 2003. Dr. Farkas is a fellow of the National Academy of Clinical Biochemistry, was a member of the FDA Clinical Molecular Genetics Advisory panel, was the first person to be certified by the American Board of Bioanalysis (ABB) in Molecular Diagnostics, and has earned the credentials of High Complexity Clinical Laboratory Director (HCLD) and Clinical Consultant (CC) from the ABB. He helped fashion the credentialing examination offered by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) for Medical Laboratory Personnel and has earned their credential: Certified Laboratory Specialist in Molecular Biology (CLSp-MB). Dr. Farkas is on the editorial boards of The Journal of Molecular Diagnostics, Biotechnology Healthcare, Archives of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine and Diagnostic Molecular Pathology.
